Out-patients
statistics - to guide management and to inform the Ministry
of Health
Hope Clinic Lukuli gathers information at several
levels of detail, beginning with the confidential patient
medical history and consultation records. Through the
government of Uganda Health Management Information System
(HMIS) we report each month on the epidemiology of our
patients.
 |
The HMIS Form #105 captures information
on age group and gender of the clients and the diagnosis
for the clients seen that month at the facility.
The form provides trend information for the clinic
to plan staffing and hours of working.
In April 2011, 35%
of the patients were confirmed to have malaria,
27% reported with coughs including pneumonia and
11% had diarrhoea symptoms unrelated to malaria.
In October 2010, we saw 910 out-patients and 42%
were confirmed with malaria, 34% had coughs or pneumonia
and 6% diarrhoea. In most months, these three are
75-80% of all out-patients cases. |
The following link will launch a webpage with the month
by month analysis from the HMIS 105 form for each category
of ailment as well as the testing and sero-positive prevalence
for HIV and the performance of our maternity department.
On Mondays we hold a specialist clinic for immunisation
of under-5s, to monitor child development and help with
nutrition.
On Tuesdays we have the 'booking-in' ante natal clinic
(ANC) - the first advice and assessment of newly pregnant
women
Our Wednesday's alternate by week between a Family Planning/
Reproductive Health clinic to advise couples and restock
them.
On the other Wednesday we host a HIV treatment case management
clinic to provide CD-4 test results and ARV drugs
On Thursday we have the review meetings with pregnant
women as their months continue and due date nears.
On Friday our partnership with the Ministry of Health
supports a HIV clinic to assess newly tested positive
clients, discuss their CD-4 results and viral load and
to plan their case management and distribute the Basic
Care Package
The weekends are more outreach focussed with Right to
Play, the psycho-social support groups and income-generating
activities.
